all the good cartoons (speed racer, betty boop, etc... all the older cartoons) are off TV and have been replaced by stupid crap

Cartoons used to be made for cartoon sakes. Now they are all just vehicles to get kids to buy the toys, or cards and stuff. It kind of changed in the '80s with the transformers.

I know what you mean. The new adventures of mighty mouse, the tick, galaxy high, drak pack, mighty orbots, bionic six, herculoids, etc.

Cartoon networks been putting up some real dreck but some interesting new stuff is coming. Don't know why they stopped running Duck Dodgers and Justice League, since their reruns are still way better than what replaced them.

Around 1970 somebody said cartoons were too violent, so my childhood was filled with the lamest toons ever. No wonder the early anime shows were so popular. (Prince planet, kimba, speed racer...)

But I can be patient. The lame stuff just makes the good stuff more successful. Remember all the Ren & Stimpy ripoffs when R&S got huge?

Yeah, you are soooo right. Quick Draw McGraw and Ricochet Rabbit, Top Cat, Deputy Dawg, Mighty Mouse, The Road Runner, What about the cartoons they use to have like the flea that was in the dogs fur singing "they'll be food around the corner" or the one where the farmer tried to get rid of the baby goat because he was eating everything in sight so he put him on the railroad tracks only to have the goat eat all the railroad tracks and wind up at the farmers house again! Hilarious.

Children who were not allowed to watch Saturday morning cartoons grew up to be TV Execs and have taken all our cartoons off the air as a way to get even. Certain rebels are trying to rescue them by playing them on smaller less known stations. Support the rebel forces!

Thank you! I've been asking myself the same thing lately! I miss having Saturday morning cartoons. What ever happened to those? Looney Toons, Woody Woodpecker, Inspector Gadget, Disney Classics, Thundercats, etc... They were fun, genuine, and sincere. Now I look at what kids are watching and I think they are insulting to our intelligence! They have a TV network for old, classic sitcoms, why can't they do that for cartons?

They have moved off of the TV to make room for all of the Japanese influenced anime-lite replacements. Maybe someone will have the foresight to put them on a special retro cartoon network. They already have Boomerang, which shows a lot of old stuff but it is mostly (maybe solely) Hanna Barbara. Cartoon Network is that last bastion of good cartoons but you have to wait until Adult Swim to see the good stuff.

My 5 yr. old's favorite cartoon is & always was Tom & Jerry, which they still show on the Cartoon Network. He also loves Scooby-Doo.

I miss Casper, the Friendly Ghost ((& Windy))!

I actually enjoy some of the new ones too though, like Jimmy Neutron.... His buddy Sheen is hilarious! Also, Fairly Odd Parents' Cosmo cracks me up.

I couldn't agree with you more !! I hate what is being shown as cartoons these days! It's not the same as when I grew up. Now, all there is is killing and hate, crashing cars.....blah blah blah !!! And we wonder why children act the way they do today ?
What happened to the funny ones???
Where's all the love ???
Where's all the comedy ???
