Had a similar situation with our daughter. She had bite issues that couldn't be corrected until she was 8-9 YO. To deal with her slow eating we supplemented her diet with BOOST as her primary morning meal so that we could get her off to school on time.

try cutting the food up smaller. Most likely she is playing around with her food as well as eating. What I had to do was turn off all distratctions-televison and radio. I also had my kids play outside to increase their appitite so they werent sitting all day long. I also still give them those toddler meals that come already cut up and have the right amount of food a toddler needs and occasionly they will eat what gets cooked.

I suggest you feed her and not let her feed herself because my 2 1/2 year old daughter does the same thing. They are so sidetracked and would rather sit and play with their food than everything. Try feeding her bites with another spoon or fork while she is feeding herself or dabbling around :)

That does seem a bit long. I would try helping her feed herself and if that doesn't work and it is really a chewing issue you should see the Dr.
