I am specifically looking at the 60GB one that does photos and video but any thoughts/experiences would be good.

Do you need to use itunes to upload songs to it? when connected does it show up like a drive on Windows like other mp3 players do

Any good and bad information you supply will be gratefully received

Yes, you have to use i-tunes to put music on it. I tried opening up the drive in a folder and dragging the music and videos to it but it does not work. It is a very good ipod. I just used limewire from www.limewire.com to download free videos, movies, pictures, and music. Once you download the music, you can drag them to i-tunes and they should upload automatically. You may have to convert the videos or movies into MP4 format. You can find an MP4 converter from www.download.com and search for "Videora Ipod Converter" and download it which is free. Once you've convertered your videos into MP4 format, just drag them to i-tunes and they should upload to your ipod. The sound and picutre on the ipod is very good. I would get the 30gb video ipod though, as I have one and have only used 3gbs of space.

I bought a 3rd generation IPOD a couple years ago and it still works great. The battery is not as good as it used to be, but I still can use it on trips although I use it primarily as a jukebox connected to the aux input of my home sound system. I just bought an ipod NANO for travel and workouts. Tip: buy a protective case for it ASAP.

apparently the battery does not last long.

I tend to look at the battery and when it is halfway used, i tend to top it up, you should not do that becasue when it is fully charged, the battery will die half way..its best that it is fully dead.

I love my iPod to bits, I dont know what I would do without it, its helped me lose weight strangely take it to work and walk to work for an hour.

A handy tip.... I protect the screen by putting sticky tape on there to prevent scratches

I love mine and use it all the time. The only negative thing is that if you get a new computer or if you use a mate's its pretty difficult to move your itunes across. There are def ways to do it, but I have heard other programs are easier to use.
