I am considering the pros and cons of living NH versus MA.
NH has no state income tax and no sales tax.
Houses are generally cheaper in NH, but real-estate taxes appear to be higher (per sqft) there (or not?). Gas costs about the same (in fact, I've seen cheaper gas in Cambridge than in Nashua).
However, most people, if they can afford it, generally try to live in MA. Even at the border between NH and MA, the population is a lot more on the MA side. So what is the catch? What keeps people away from NH in spite of all the economic advantages?

Property taxes vary greatly by town so check out several. If there is a decent tax base from business or many very high dollar homes, then the taxes tend to be reasonable. If the town has no businesses then the residents will shoulder the burden of town management (roads, water, schools, etc). The other thing to consider is where you want to live. It's silly to live in NH and work in MA because you'll still have to pay MA income tax. I don't think there's a lot of difference between the southern part of the state and MA. The further north you go, the less crowded it gets but there are also significantly fewer professional opportunities. So much would depend on what you do for a living.

I live in NH, and commute to work in MA. MA has a lot of high paying industries like Bio tech. Some other things to note about NH. You can choice whatever car insurance company you want to go with and it's about $2000 cheaper in NH depend on coverage. There are only about eight insurance company in MA because the State Gov pass some crazy bill that keeps insurance companies out. Rent are also cheaper in NH.

The community colleges in MA are better thou. They have a program if you get a 2-year degree with a 2.5 avg, then you are guaranteed a spot at any state college or university. It seem that any one has the opportunity to get a great education in MA. Also the community colleges in MA offer alot of advance classes you will not see in a NH community college like Calculus 3 & Calculus based Scineces.

It is cheaper to buy a house in NH generally unless you want to live in MA but far far away from Boston. We commute to Boston and although we save money on our house, we pay a lot to commute. No income tax in NH if you work in NH. A lot of people on the border work in MA and pay MA income tax.

UK all day lengthy almost always for explanations above - I just like the British experience of humour, additionally I am very pleased with my county (Yorkshire), I like the way in which we do not get very emotional - the entire stiff higher lip factor (actual tale - a British commander in Korea as soon as radioed the Americans "getting a bit of sticky right here" however the Americans didn't fully grasp this intended they have been being slaughtered and despatched no reinforcements). I additionally like our sporting events - I have a season price tag at Barnsley Football membership, I most commonly attend snooker and cricket and revel in rugby on TV - all of which contain way more ability and approach than US sporting events and there isn't the identical ardour for Association Football (football) within the USA. and with regards the fiscal problems - the US is in a worse state than us- up to date curiosity cost cuts exhibit how concerned they're.

Don't move to Mass. God it's horrid. I'm living here now and can't wait to graduate high school and get the hell out. Taxes are ridiculous, welfare is on the rise, and if you look at the statistics, everyone is leaving this state. DON'T come here if you can help it. Massachusettss isn't nicknamed 'Taxachusetts' for nothing.
