First of all, DANY7969--it might be advantageous of you to actually check into the information that you are trying to pass off as fact. While Grambling and MOREHOUSE are considered historically black colleges and universities (HBCU's), there is nothing in these schools' constitutions that doesn't ALLOW anyone other than blacks to attend school there...because if there were...they COULD NOT receive government funds. These schools were just established as a safe haven for blacks when racism did exist in all education. If you wanted to go there, YOU would be the minority and you would probably get a scholarship. It's like the colleges that were founded as religious institutes...you don't have to be Methodist or Baptist to attend them...those are just their roots. These schools and other programs simply aimed to level the playing field among the races and have served that purpose well.

Yes, but in subtle ways. They may have "difficulty" locating "qualified" minority applicants for jobs. They may find that minority students just don't do as well on tests. They may find that they can't have literature classes with minority literature because not enough students sign up for them. Look at the kinds of work study jobs that minorities get. Is it all the crap jobs with the more prestigious jobs going to white males? Then perhaps the college has a institutional racism. It's not necessarily intentional, just that no one has made an effort for it not to be accidental.

I wouldn't think so. There could be less minorities at certain schools because of the area, but as far as the boards of education, I believe it should be in their Code of Ethics to not discriminate against anyone regardless of race, religious beliefs, etc. I'm not sure, this just makes sense.

Due to affirmative action, colleges are required to admit certain numbers from each race. Generally, when compared to unweighted results, the admission rates for whites are more or less the same, but more blacks and hispanics are admitted, and less asian/indians are admitted.
Essentially, affirmative action is taking seats away from higher qualified asians and indians and awarding them to blacks and hispanics. So the answer to your question is somewhat. Some minorities are favored, while others are discriminated against.

Well, I'd say it's the exact opposite for most schools. Most schools accept many minority students with lesser SATs and grades simply to remain "diverse." Personally, I don't have a problem with this, but I'd say this is about as far from racist as you can get.

Are you kidding I don't want to sound like a racest but most colleges are trying everything they can to get minorities because of goverment incentives and discrimination laws but if you were trying to get a white guy into a black college that might be tougher.

There is a college in Hawaii that only accepts Hawiian natives. I saw a news article about it on yahoo a while back, they were in federal court trying to protect this right.
Can't think of the name of it though. Do a search.

Yes, hidden prejudice but many many many colleges avoid that. Its against the law to discriminate or prejudice against minorities. If you feel that its what happening to you, you can do something about it.
