Under 3 months, see the doctor for constipation, diarheaa, or anything at all.
After 3 months, use one of the members of the BRAT diet--Bananas, rice (cereal) applesauce, toast to help with maintaining regularity.

My newborns were always constipated. You can try a little apple juice, and my next thing I'm going to suggest is gross, but it works every time. Get the blue nose-sucker thing that you get from the hospital. Clean it off really well, then fill it with water. Leave a diaper under your baby, and squirt the water into his poop hole. It acts as an agitation, and softens up what is right there for him to push everything else out. He will go in about 5 min. or less when you do this. This works every time- so if you don't want to see your baby constipated, do it. I've never heard of Karo syrup working.

Karo syrup always worked for my two boys when they would occasionally become constipated. First of all, did you use dark? Their pediatrician recommended 2 tablespoons dark Karo mixed wtih 2 ounces water and given in a bottle. Also, it usually took at least 9 hours or so (usually about 12) for it to work.
Another thing my sons' ped. recommended was to take a q-tip or rectal thermometer and put some vaseline on it. Put just the *very* tip of it (the silver part of the thermometer or the cottony part of the q-tip) inside their rectum and turn it around a little. This helps the rectal muscle to move and try to push their bm out. Some people are very squeamish about doing this (and rightfully so, as it does seem strange) and you can cause harm if you push it up inside too far. It works though.

Apple juice, more karo syrup, or prune juice usually does the trick. Sometimes 2 month olds do get constipated, so its okay...just keep on trying and he should go soon.

There are a few things to consider.
First off, is your baby breastfed or formula fed? Breastfed babies can go for several days without pooping without truly being constipated. My daughter once went for about 9 days, but was otherwise perfectly fine! If your son is breastfed and truly is constipated, you might need to determine if something in your diet is impacting your baby's digestion, e.g., if you are taking in too much dairy.
Is your baby showing signs of discomfort? Grunting, straining, and then crying? If he seems perfectly content, it may not be necessary to intervene.
If it is necessary to intervene, there are a few techniques to try.
-You mentioned trying Karo syrup...it may take more than one dose and the effect isn't immediate. Pear juice is also an excellent natural laxative. Maybe the combination of the two will get things moving.
-Lay baby down as if for a diaper change. Undo his diaper and gently push his legs back (knees to chest). Sometimes moving the legs back and forth in a bicycling motion and applying a bit of pressure on the tummy can help stimulate him to poop. You could also (with a very clean finger) gently push a bit of vaseline up into the rectum to lubricate and make it easier for him to pass the stool. Be prepared...sometimes stimulating the anus this way will cause baby to poop right away!
-Sitting baby in a bath of very warm (but not too warm!) water can sometimes also help stimulate a bowel movement.
-Performing an enema on baby using warm water squirted from a bulb syringe can sometimes be the solution.
My best advice is to talk to your pediatrician or a nurse in your son's doctor's office about this issue. They may wish to see your son. At the very least, they can advise you on the best method to take with your child. At two months of age, they may advise you not to introduce pear juice or other such remedies due to risk of allergic reaction. If they recommend you perform an enema, ask them how you should go about it.
I wish you the best of luck.

As a quick fix go to the drug store and get a Fleet Baby Lax to give him. It will work right away. To prevent him from going through this again be sure to continuing to use the Karo (dark not lite) in at least one bottle a day.

I would first ask if your baby is breast or bottle fed. It is not uncommon for breast fed babies to go days without pooping. And true constipation is when poops are hard and dry. Has your baby just not pooped lately or is having hard dry stools, there is a big difference here. If your baby is formula fed, they should have poop everyday or maybe every other. All and all you can try to add an tablespoon of prune juice to four ounces of water. If you feel uscomfortable in any way contact your pediatrician, it's what they get paid to do!!

If you are breastfeeding, then you take some laxatives and in turn it will flow to the baby through the milk.
If formula fed, just massage baby's stomache while baby is on its back.
And baby isn't REALLY constipated unless it hasn't gone more than 7 days. A lot of babies don't have to poop everyday.
Good luck,
Oh yeah, and call you dr for advice. He may ask you to come in with baby.

It is very uncommon for a 2 month old to be constipated. See your pediatrician right away, something else may be going on. Don't try to treat your baby at home without supervision. He's just too little yet....

put a little prune juice in the milk. I had to do this until my daughter was 12 months and off formula. It will take some time to get the hang of how much to put in the milk- you don't want loose stools either.
However, if her constipation ease within 2 days, you should take her to her pediatrician.
