Airlines Operations is, one of the most charming & high status carrier, let us know something about this. There are numbers of jobs available with aviation industry in India. In India, it is the Airport Authority of India (AAI) that is responsible for the management and development of international airports, domestic terminal, civil air terminals and civil enclaves at Defense aerodromes. The AAI manages and the entire Indian airspace. It is responsible for constructing runways, aircraft movement, cargo complexes and warehouses, ground help, air traffic and safety services. The AAI has to ensure efficient functioning of these services and equip the airports with the latest facilities available. To achieve this, the AAI has several centers for training personnel such as fighting squads, communication personnel and aerodrome personnel. It naturally goes without saying that job opportunities with the AAI are aplenty and remunerative too.

A basic graduate degree. Command over the English language and Hindi are mandatory. Knowledge of a foreign language is considered an asset. Foreign airlines too recruit ground staff and reservation staff from India to work in the different air terminals from where they operate their flights. Here too, fluency in English is mandatory and knowledge of a foreign language is an asset.



Airlines ground staff:


The commercial operations divisions of airline offices require staff at the airport to take care of passenger facilities such as checking in passengers, issuing and checking boarding passes, directing passengers, answering queries, preparing passenger lists, completing luggage formalities, attending to cargo documentation etc. They are the first members of the airlines office to receive the passengers at the airport and guide them through formalities such as immigration clearance, customs, security clearance, etc; till the passenger enters the aircraft and similarly guide and direct passengers when they arrive at the end of the journey. They also employ traffic assistants to oversee loading and unloading of passengers' luggage.

Several departments at the terminals and the AAI employ managers who are placed in charge of each of the departments. There are cargo managers, personnel managers, legal managers, economic planning managers, commercial managers, housekeeping managers, stores and purchase managers, airport managers and managers in charge of electronics and technical matters. Every post is self-explanatory and the responsibilities are implicit. Broadly speaking the respective manager looks after the functioning of each of the department.

The requirements for the post of managers are as follows:

Economic planning manager -The post is generally open to post graduates in economics, statistics or mathematics, with a background of transport economics. Previous experience is considered an asset.

Commercial manager - Graduates with experience in handling commercial or revenue matters are considered for this post.

Cargo manager - A degree holder or an MBA with experience in cargo at supervisory level in airlines, seaports, Air Force or IATA approved cargo agencies, supplemented with a knowledge of computers and EDP systems is considered for the cargo manager's post.

Housekeeping manager - This is open to graduates with a diploma in hotel management and three years' experience in executive capacity at a hotel.

Stores and Purchase manager - Graduates trained in materials management, with five years' experience in managing stores.

Personnel manager - A degree or diploma in personnel management or labour welfare or law or social science is a must. He should also have minimum five years' experience in personnel management.

Law manager - A degree in law.
