If you understand how humans learn and react to their environment you will notice that personality modifications at a primitive level require a "re-wiring" of specific neural pathways in the brain. Everything everyone learns is done through pattern recognition. Every response generated in the brain is a patterned response to the stimuli. A person can change their behavior, but changing their personality becomes more difficult because they have to re-learn how to react to any given stimuli. Consider a random selection of words where you are asked to quickly say the first thing to come to mind. The results are an example of the trillions of neural connections in your brain that are "hard-wired" to cause a response. Even if you establish new and contradictory neural responses the previous ones do not go away (except with certain neurological diseases). For a very basic example, through your life you have learned that red coils on a stove top means you should not touch it. But what if you were given the same stimuli except every time you saw that same stimuli and then touched the burner, it was cold? You would learn that when you touched THAT stove top it was always cold. Then the next time you saw a different stove, would you think the stove burner was hot or cold? Probably hot, because of "a priori" conditional probability. Certain fundamental beliefs and their corresponding personality traits can not be changed.

Apart from the areas you have narrated, yes, there are many practical examples of people undergoing dramatic changes. Sometimes some personality traits may not show up in one's early childhood but as one grows up, they may take shape and become more tangible. For instance, one may have born not so intelligent and may not be so in one's early life but one may become really creative in due course! Some people who change their cultivated habits may eventually turn out to have a totally refined personality. In short, nothing is impossible but everything is possible!

Sure, many people have changed personality permanently but usually when something tragic has happened in their life. To just wake up in the morning and change is not possible Permanently.

A person can only truly change their personality through their experiences, they shape how we grow, how we deal with situations. It is impossible to decide to change a personality trait just because one feels like one should. A trait must changed over a period of time, or one must truly want to change it. One person can never change another, they must want to change.

only if you multiple personalities.. More or less, your base personality is there.. you can't improve it, not 100% changed

There is some exception, dramatic change because of accident, and affect by others or religion, belief.

its hard to change who you are. Most of the time people act the way they feel, and unless you change the way you feel about yourself, you will not be able to change.
