There was an incident across the street that resulted in a crime scene investigation and a large corpse being removed from the home. We are scared for our children, and want to know what exactly happened over there!

Go knock on the door as ask, "Hey, who died here and how did he die." They will appreciate your concern.
Actually if it is a crime scene still they will have someone guarding the area. Ask that person. Someone was murdered in my apartment building many years ago and they had an officer sitting outside the apartment 24/7 while evidence still remained at the scene.

Search for the person's name on the internet along with the city, try calling the police and asking what happened even tho they probably won't release full details.

watch for the papers. check the obituaries. the death will be listed there. also check to see if any crime has been mentioned.
