And why if you know why? I prefer Barnes and Nobles. I'm nor sure why it just seems more welcoming.

I go to Borders more often for the last 7 years or so only because they've been closer, but I USED to go to Barnes and Noble more. Saturday I went into a Barnes and Noble and instantly I remembered why I liked it more. It has that BN sound, smell, look... it just HUGS you in everyway! So, I prefer
BARNES and NOBLE.

Barnes and Noble. The Borders that are around my area are a bit dirtier. And I can find things better in Barnes and Noble.

Borders is the best. It's like a library only with a broader sense of everybook and guess what you can have a drink and stuff. It rocks. I live in London. Dont think I've heard of Barnes & Nobles.

Barnes & Nobles

It's more welcoming like you said because the chairs for sitting and reading are spaced out all over the store and you can sit and read without having to worry about being stared at.
At Borders you have to go all the way over to the coffee area to sit down and read. You feel uncomfortable over there because you haven't payed for your book yet and people can look at you and see you almost anywhere in the store, where as in B&N where you sit only people passing by you can see you.

Definitely Borders.
Barnes and Noble has this idiotic policy regarding gift certificates. I had several... but was told I could only use one per purchase!!! And... there's no refund of the difference. So, now I have these little receipts I have to carry with me... each having differing amounts to show what money is available from each original certificate.

Oy.
Never again.

They are the same overpriced book stores. I bring my non-Starbucks coffee into the local half priced books. Same books, used. The book in Boarders and Barnes and Nobles are pretty much used after being manhandled by the student bums which hang out in the store
