I am guessing your used System Restore. I think you can by going back to System Restore and clicking Undo my Last Restore.

i know exactly what you mean, microsoft mislead users in system restore as they say you wont loose any programs, well if you restore to a week before,of course you are going to,but however they arnt exactly lost, just not in the settings you have chosen from system restore
if you have named your photos and can remember the names(or near about), a search would probally yeild some results ,but the easiest way would be to go back in restore and undo the last restore which will return you to the time when your p.c was playing up.quickly back up your photos and then restore it back to the 26/1/05
i am very suprised that you can go back so far,you must have one massive hard drive,as system restore memory is worked out on a percentage of your hard drive capacity(12.5%)
good luck

If you used System Restore, NO files are deleted. the applications that had access to the files aren't even ddeleted. Everything is still there, you just have to dig around a bit. Or you can undo the last restore and then copy everything to another drive then do the restore and know where the files are.

probably, but you'd have to either send your hard drive to a data recovery company or buy some expensive software to see if you can recover it. Be careful though...not all data recovery id 100% guaranteed....no matter what claims they make.

You may have set your pc back to original factory settings instead of to the date you wanted, heres a few links for data recovery:
