I recently moved out of my parents house and I was curious as to what age others were. And did you stay out once you got out, or did you come back for some reason?

I would like to hear from the people who actually liked their parents and had a good relationship with them, when did you guys move out. It seems I'm getting alot of negative responses from people who moved out early because there was some sort of problem at home, but I'd like to hear from the people who have a healthy relationship with their parents, kids who still want their parents to be in their lives.....

I moved out when I was 17 and my parents got divorced. I went to college when I was 18 four hours away from them in a different state. I never looked back or moved back in. I have a good relationship with my parents. I have always been very self-reliant and motivated. You find out who you are when you move out of the house.

In a sense, I moved out at 18 to go to college. I was back only the summer between my freshman and sophomore year and stayed at school from then on. I moved back briefly at 21 when I graduate, and stayed for a little over four months, at which point I moved out of state with my then fiance/now husband and have no current intention to go back!

I worked at an animal shelter. And there was this dog there that I was trying to socialize (she was wild), and they gave me a time-limit to get her social or they would euthanize her. The time came, and she was social only to me. I wanted to adopt the dog, but my father wouldn't let me. So at 19 with a $5.00 an hour job, I found an upper-flat that would let me keep my dogs. I adopted her. She is the best friend ever. Now, at 28, I bought my parents home when they retired. My relationship was never bad because my dad didnt want the dog, I just did what I had to in order to save her. :)

17, went to college a year early after being homeschooled. Back only on school breaks. Won't ever move back in.

It felt like time to move out, and it turned out to be the right decision for me. Seems like ages ago, I still visit my parents every month or so.

I came back for a few months after my divorce... I insisted that I pay rent and buy groceries, in spite of my parents protests.
