Talk to your OB doctor about your weight gain...he or she will be the one to tell you if this is OK for you. Everyone is different.

Hi. That is on the lighter side for the amount of weight you should gain during your pregnancy, however there are a lot of factors to consider. Was your pre-pregnancy weight above or below the weight range for your age/height? I only gained a total of 20 lbs. over the course of 9 months and I actually weigh less now than I did before getting pregnant. I gained a majority of my weight in the 4th and 5 th month, then again the final month. From all of the articles and books I read during pregnancy, the range was between 15 - 35 lbs of weight gain, but it really depended upon your pre-pregnancy weight. Also, just a note about weight gain...I always thought the less I gained, the smaller the baby would weigh at birth. Not so. My son was born 1 week past my due date and he weighed 8 lbs, 11 oz. I am 5'8" and 120 lbs - - no one could believe I delivered a baby that big!

Every doctor is different with what they want you to gain.
Based on my working in labor and delivery, I'd think your doc would say that was a good amount. Usually, most docs look for about a 25 pound gain and if you're small even a 30 is ok. You don't mention how tall you are so I'm thinking, not very tall at all.
You're baby is getting the nutrients that it needs, because it's taking it from you so you need to stay hydrated and make sure to keep taking your vitamins. You still have a little time to go, so I'm sure you'll be putting on a little more weight . You may top at about 30, which will still be in the "norm". In the end, like you are now, supposedly all the weight is going to the baby.
If you are concerned, give your doc a call and talk to him/her or the nurse. Have they said anything to you about you not gaining enough? If not, then you should be ok because I think they would have been telling you to eat more.
Never be afraid to give your doc or nurse a call and ask questions. That is what they are there for and what you are paying them for.
As for asking questions online, when you use a forum like this and many others you have to be careful with what information you listen too. You never know who is answering your questions and you hope people would answer honestly and give right information, but you just don't know. When you're wanting information that is so important about you or your baby, better to back up the information you see on here with a call to the doc, just to make sure. Better safe than sorry!
Best wishes!

I weighed less than 100 lbs before getting pregnant with each of my three babies. My total weight gain was about 27 pounds each time. My babies were all healthy weights. (7 lbs 13 oz boy, 7 lbs 7 oz girl and 8 lbs girl) Is your fundal height increasing on track with baby's gestational age? Are you continuing to gain weight? If both of those are true then all should be fine! Baby tends to pack on a good deal of weight in these final weeks. If it would make you feel better, keep a diary of what you eat for a week and see how much you are eating and if you are covering all the food groups.

Every woman and pregnancy is different. "Normal" weight gain is 20-35 pounds...but like I said everyone is different. I have a friend who is pregnant and has only gained 10-15 pounds and is due in 2 weeks...she has been eating really healthy so she hasn't gained a lot of extra weight...she actually lost weight during her first trimester.
Good luck and congratulations!!

I started at 108 and gained only 16 pounds. Your doctor would tell you if he/she thought you needed to gain more. I was actually TOLD to eat ice cream every night when I stopped gaining weight at one point! (The good stuff, like Breyer's, not the "only full of sugar" kind...)

You'll be fine; and your baby will be fine. You should gain around 30 pounds and you gained 21 so eat a bit more and you'll be perfect. Don't worry! If your still concerned then talk to you and your babies doctor.
Best wishes to you and your baby!
