Where did the new BEDBUG epidemic come from?

Where did the new BEDBUG epidemic come from?

I read that they came from Mexico. Someplace else said they were brought over from Asia. Which one is correct?

If I recall, they came from Europe recently and have started in New York.

The problem is that old used matresses are being transported in the same trucks that deliver new matresses. Most new mattresses are covered with plastic, so the bedbugs cant get into them, so it's not that big of a problem.
