They wake up late or miss the bus/their ride.
Sometime it's because their other siblings make them be late.
Overall it is due to the lack of sleep.

it depends.
If they are not driving
it could be that their parents woke up late or were lazy
it could mean that the parents do not are about education
it could be the student woke up late/does not care
if they are driving
then it is more on the student.
most students do not value an education, so they do not have a motive to get up in the morning. If it was something that they truly cared about, they would be their early and waiting for the doors to open. (like a kid going to Disney Land. they will not sleep in and miss that!!)

Students come to school late because they were taught at a young age that it is acceptable because there are not consequences for their actions.

They can't bear the thought of having to stare at a very fat and ugly teacher all day? If the teacher is hot, they may not like the subject? Oh, I don't know? Could it be that Bush is an idiot? That the so-called system of education makes poor children so depressed they become autistic and prefer to be truant? Go figure...

The same reason people are late for their jobs. They wake up late. They take long to get dressed. Pick one

my wife a teacher at Columbus city school,the student stays up to late or mom and dad has to go to work early and the student unsupervised

Mostly due to irresponsible parents if they are younger. Later - it is their own lack of personal responsibility. Then, when they get to be adults they wonder why they keep getting fired for showing up late!

This is the norm in that family.
Avoiding something at school.
Do not value school
No support to encourage being on time.

this is the list that they give to teachers:
a) raining
b) bus came late
c) traffic jam
d) accident on the road
e) car almost crashed
f) couldn't wake up
g) forgot today was a schoolday
and many others....
but personally i think they just don't like the teachers.
