Different answers depending on whether you mean the company or the stock.
Delta will continue to operate - it will emerge from bankruptcy (no liquidation) and continue to fly for quite some time - witness US Air and United, as two recent examples.
The currently traded stock (trading on the pink sheets) will be cancelled when the company emerges from bankrupty and the equity (new shares) in the reorganized company will be held by the creditors.

I hope they work out, but I doubt it. Southwest and a few scant others are the only ones who appear to be making $$$ doing this. Delta has to change, and fast.
With that said, I live in the southeast, so I fly on Delta from time to time b/c of the price. Just have go thru ATL a lot.

I wouldn't count on it. The legacy carriers are stuck between a rock (high fuel prices) and a hard place (discount carriers like Southwest). Neither one is likely to go anywhere in the near future-- the Chinese and Indians are going to continue to consume more oil which should maintain the price at a high level and Southwest frankly has a better business model than the legacies do. It can remain profitable at oil price levels that will swamp other carriers. As such there are probably better places to stick your cash than Delta. JMHO.

Any airline that reneges on its agreement with its pilots regarding pension accounts, in fact, any company period that does that, does not deserve to continue on.
Once they begin to fail, they will be forced to sell out to another company that can manage its affairs in a professional manner.
