I like being able to go to my loved one about my issues, but I can tell it gets to him after awhile. Plus, I don't want my friends to think that it's only reason I call them up about.

I've told my loved one that I was thinking about it. They said that what ever I think would help. My friends said it good to have a third party who doesn't know me personally.

Loved ones are always best. Firstly, because they know just as much as a counsellor, except for all of the big words and also loved ones will not put you on medication that you don't need.
Sometimes people close to you will become tired of hearing your problems but they will still help you because they care. Just try not to be too much of a complainer and learn how to handle some stress without involving them.
It's hard to concentrate when you're anxious but try a hobby or ( Yahoo Q&A ) or anything to take your mind of negative thoughts. Watch how your mood changes once you have become preoccupied with something fun and interesting; you will feel revitalised and re-invigorated!

Initially when one feels stressed out,it is logical and rational to turn to friends and loved ones like relatives etc. However, if the stressful situation prevails and either the help from friends and relatives is proving to be insufficient in tackling the issue or it is getting too much of a persistent bother for these people, one will be better off under care of a Psychiatrist.

I would seek help elsewhere besides friends because a third party a mutual person sometimes has the best advice and besides you don't want to always burden your friends with your stress you should be having fun and talking about other things with friends besides your stress all the time. Good luck

Your friends are there to help you through things like stress, problems, et cetera. They shoudl welcome the chance to be there for you. However, if you seem to be a person with a "lot" of issues, you may want to check that out with a professional--it may be something that is too big for just your friends. If they seem to get squeemish the next time you come to them with something, just give them a break. Maybe they have a problem to ask YOU about? Just try and wait for the right time, it will all work out.

Unless you are suicidal, or independently wealthy and do not have to rely on health insurance, it can take weeks or months to get in to see a psychiatrist.

You need to be careful however, in your sentence you mentioned plural loved ones then you singled out "him".

First of all, men don't want to hear about problems, men want to fix them. So, if you have a problem and you want it fixed, and you are willing to heed the advice, go to a man. If you want to just have a shoulder to cry on and "vent", go to a woman. If you want to have a pity-party, go to your Room!

Try a loved one or friend first, but if it doesn't help go seek a pro. Nothing wrong with it, they will just help you deal with it.

do what works best for you...if its loved ones or friends and it works, they will understand and being friends would rather have you come to them then anyone else...that would be how I would think if someone where to seek my help with stressful situations.

It might be worth your while to speak to a pro - it can get old to friends and lovers. Counselors, therapists, etc. are there to hear your problems - and some are free or sliding-scale fee (go by income).
