I agree that most homeless people are drunks or drug addicts , etc. I personally wouldn't want to bring one into my home either. Their bad decisions are lack of motivation has gotten most of them where they are in most cases but it is the same way with welfare mothers. If a woman jumps in bed with every man she meets and has a baby every year and has a drug problem, etc, the goverment gives her a place to live, free food, health care, drug treatment if she has a problem, and all kinds of handouts whereas if you are a man who has a drinking problem you are stuck to live out on the street. To me, the welfare mother is just as much of a bum as the drunk. She has no motivation, is lazy, often has a drinking, drug, or promiscious problem. I dont understand why a woman who is already getting handouts because she can't take care of her children, keeps having more children. She would be homeless too if she didin't get everything handed to her.

I totaly agree with you. to be on Welfare is just another way of taking away from our city's funds.
I don't agree with welfare or food stamps....everyone of legal working age....should have a job. & the homeless should be taken off the streets & put to work for the city...at least odd jobs like sweeping & picking up trash or trimming bushes.
People who really need assistance, can't get it, because of people who are just abusing the system...so therefore no one should get assistance....
accept the elderly, a war vet, or some one that is "truely" dissable.

I agree with the person that said it's mainly for the children. What a lot of 'Welfare' Mom's don't know is that if they are on the government medical card that they can get 'fixed' also. I am a single Mom with 3 children, I don't have a college degree, but I work for a living and know how hard it is to raise kids without anything too. The government would rather pay mothers, 'welfare' or not, to keep their children and take care of them themselves, than take the children and put them in foster care or for adoption though. Not sure if it's cheaper this way or not, but they do get that natural family environment instead of the other.
Like I said though, I do agree that both the homeless and 'welfare' mom's should be doing something for themselves! Almost anyone can flip burgers or clean something for a living! The jobs are out there and the government will help you get one if needed!

You're right, bad decisions have gotten welfare mothers where they are. I would caution you not to generalize, however. I was a young abused mother on welfare at one point, and my motivation got me out of the system within 6 months and with a decent job. I couldn't have kept that job without government childcare assistance, though. Because the government helped me when I needed it, my two children now attend schools for gifted children, while I am working on my degree in the sciences, while contributing to society. People make mistakes, it's better to lend a helping hand and help that person get back on their feet, rather than being overly critical and kicking that person while they're down. By the way, I'm not lazy, don't drink, smoke or do drugs, and am not promiscuous, and no one is ever going to get rich of welfare. It's just a helping hand that our government lends us.

You also have to understand that some of these mothers came from a bad family they don't have the emotional support let alone the financial support, alot of these women do work but the minimum wage being a whopping $5.15 an hour isn't exactly enough to support anyone, yeah yeah she could get a better job but for that you need an education and for an education you need money and unless she has a family that is willing to help which I doubt she does she's in a very bad situation. What is really sad is so many women are put in this situation from birth, not by choice. I do think that they should regulate it much closer, meaning not allowing them to take cash out of their EBT cards to buy whatever it is they want to buy, I think there should be a list of necessary items and that's all, no splurging. I think their should be more encouragement for these women to get an education and be able to support themselves. What is worse is most of these women are encouraged to quit their jobs! They are told in order to receive health care they need to quit their jobs, and a woman with a sick baby is going to do so to help her child, it is an endless cycle for these women, you should not be upset with them but with your government.

Okay, first, learn how to articulate yourself better before knocking other people! (Spelling and punctuation obviously are not your strong points!) The only reason welfare mothers who are drunkards get help is because they have CHILDREN to take care of. The homeless people who are drunkards either don't have children to take care of or their children are being taken care of by other people. Yes, there are a lot of flaws with the welfare program. However, if you "fixed" all those problems there would be lots more starving children. You can't very well tell someone they MUST stop having children!!! If you could, we'd be living in China, not the U.S.A. Find something bigger to worry about!

Every homeless person on the street has a shelter that they could go and live in, but they perfer not to live there but want to live on the street instead since they don't want to follow the rules of the shelter.
And no every mother does not get things given to her, the children get aid and help but pehaps your state gives more to mothers than other states.

Your right.
We wonder where our tax dollars go, I have been off of work for 6 weeks & have found a way to survive.
Not accepting hand outs from strangers, I worked my *** off to prepare for this time off.
Another thought, there should be a law set. Any woman who decides not to get a job & live off of welfair. Should have to get her tubes tyed after her second child is born.
If this law were set, we the hard working tax payers wouldn't have so many people to support.
