Hezbollah is violating Article 58 of Protocol 1 of the Geneva Conventions, which requires parties to a conflict to "avoid locating military objectives within or near densely populated areas." Hezbollah uses civilian homes and neighborhoods to store and launch rockets.
Article 28 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: "The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations." This means that the building in Qana where Hezbollah was hiding its launchers was a legitimate military target.
Article 37 of Protocol 1, ratified in 1979, says: "It is prohibited to kill, injure or capture an adversary by resort to perfidy." It lists three types of perfidy; the third is "the feigning of civilian, noncombatant status." That is what Hezbollah does when it disguises its fighters as civilians and hides and launches missiles in Qana and elsewhere.

cherylyoung, it gets its marching orders from Iran so yes it makes it responsible for such protocols. Not to mention these protocols are there for a reason, because they give some sort of ethical rules of engagement in a time where they are much needed.

notyou311, yes they attacked our service men but did not plan 9/11, though I am sure many of them were not opposed to the event. It has been postulated that Hezbollah has been the model for regimes like the Taliban and terrorist groups like Al Qaida.

underagelying, again, Hezbollah is the proxy army of Iran, so yes the protocols apply and Iran should and is directly responsible for their actions. Remember their organization was set up by the Shah of Iran in 1979. The get aid to the tune of 100 million dollars as well as arms and diplomatic support. Hezbollah does not act without the approval of Iran.

veronicagzm, good point. Yes, there does seem to be a double standard. It seems most Muslims oppose Israel no matter what. Why is that, nepotism? If they were Jews they might have a different opinion. It is always difficult to put oneself in anothers shoes. By the way I am not Jewish or Muslim.

elaj, If Hezbollah killed a U.N. solidier the same thing would happen as if Israel did. They would claim it an accident and with everything else going on being too overwhelming to think about every small detail the world would probably let it pass.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a double standard when it comes to Israel.
It is taken for granted that Israel's enemies will break every protocol of war possible, and since it is taken for granted, it is automatically excused.
In contrast, Israel is expected not only to observe those same protocol of war, but to go above and beyond them, sustaining damages, injuries, and death.
For example, Israel cripples itself militarilly and endangers its own troops when it drops notices warning Lebanese civillians of an impending attack (in an effort to preserve Lebanese lives), because the same notes inform the Hezbollah of Israel's plans.
However, instead of lauding Israel's humane efforts, efforts that put Lebanese lives before Israeli lives, the majority of the world scoffs at Israel's efforts as insuffient.
At the same time, many countries don't express outrage that the Hezbollah is using Lebanese civillians as human shields.
What are the roots of this double standard? Most likely racisim.
As for the answerer called elaj: Do you enjoy making up lies? Israel would NEVER use chemical warfare. And if you think Katyushas are not dangerous, perhaps you wouldn't mind taking a stroll in northern Israel? No? You know, knives are relatively primitive weapons, too, and no one doubts that they can be used quite effectively.
Your agenda and misinformation is quite clear from your list of questions.

I'm reminded of a scene from "Bridge over the River Kwai" where the British commander of the POWs takes out a little book and starts reading to the Japaenese commander of the camp the Geneva conventions. In response, the Japanese commander locks him up in a little box.
Same Here. Hezbollah may be breaking Geneva conventions but it is clear that they don't give a rat's a__.

I actual tend to be at here for some days, away for some weeks, decrease back for some days and so on. every time I return evidently the deniers and skeptics are plunging deeper and deeper into the geographical regions of absurdity. There looks to be extra probability of a cow leaping over the moon than getting a pragmatic question or answer from a number of those human beings. No names being suggested yet there are patently a pair of persons who do have psychological well being subjects (denialism may be a psychological situation), so it’s somewhat difficult coping with them. of direction, they’re thoroughly oblivious to the actuality so it probably doesn’t make any distinction to call them out and spotlight their ineptitude. For despite reason, there has been a unexpected and marked enhance interior the variety of denialist contributors. you could usually spot the sock-puppets with the aid of figuring out traits and types in grammatical form, use of punctuation, colloquialisms, mannerisms, terminology, innovations used and so on. whether somebody tries to cover their writing form, there are various stuff we do quickly – those are the giveaways. on a similar time because it variety of feels that a number of the recent contributors are no longer something extra desirable than sock-puppets, there are some that seem to be unique persons. besides, I’ll supply them all of the entire ingredient with regard to the doubt to start up with. it is going to likely be exciting to witness the subsequent degree of desperation and notice the place the deniers circulate next. i think there could be an superior dependence on faith and politics as how you could oppose the technology of global warming, there’s a vogue manifesting itself already.

All Islamic terror groups, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc. violate the Geneva Conventions when they engage in fighting wearing civilian clothing.
The Conventions require all fighters to wear uniforms to mark them as active combatants.
Of course, a worse violation is their constant harboring in civilian areas and use of "human shields".
They wish to cause maximum death on the Jewish side AND their own side. As both aid their cause.

Yes, and newspaper services like Reuters doctor photos to make it look like the Israelis are doing it. It became so outrageous that they had to print a retraction. Unfortunately, many people saw the lie but not the retraction.
Hezbollah has attacked American marines and they are the same terrorists who plotted the 911 attacks.

It is a good point, but I don't think that they see themselves as bound by the Geneva Convention. That may be one of the things that makes them a terrorist group.
