I am a ballet dancer and I am 13. I am practically the only dancer in our class who can't do a decent cabriole. Is there a trick or is it just practice???

You want to really pull up when you jump. Really tighten your abs. Then when you're doing the beats, try to leave the leg your leading with still and the leg that leaves the ground last does the beat.

Also you want a good jump. The more time you spend in the air the more time you have to beat the leg. And beat from the thighs. Don't try to use your ankles to beat, think upper leg.

That should help. Of course practice.

Good Luck!
