I have a 66 LeMans conv and I want to build it for perfomace. Yes there are stronger Pontiac engines, but it came stock with the 326 and I thought it would be different to have a built original block. But no one ever builds a 326 and I have never heard of one being done. Is there some problem with building one? I can go with others if necessary.

Other than the limitation of performance parts I don't see why not. Several decades ago, Pontiac's were built all the time, and there was a lot more speed equipment available. However you can still do most of the trick stuff, Manifolds, Carbs, Ignition, Headers, etc.

They're not as popular as other engines, so there aren't as many performance products on the market. It will probably cost alot more to build that engine than another more popular model.
