I'm an ENTJ and qualified to administer the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).

The MBTI should only be considered the first step of understanding your type. It is only accurate about 70% of the time, at most. Once you take the test, you should look at the descriptions of the 16 types (especially those that are close to your test results) and see which one describes you best.

For example if you came out ENTP, you might want to compare yourself with the ENTP, INTP, ESTP, ENFP, and ENTJ descriptions to see which one describes you best. Keep working on it until you are satisfied with the description. This is your true type.

You might also want to consider that if you're sort of in between some characteristics (such as E and I), to some people you will come across as an E and to others as an I. And even if you are extremely E, there will be times when you act I. Your type only describes how you are the most often.

INTJ here, and yes I agree. The book "Please Understand Me" By doctor Richard Kiersey, I do hope I have his name right, close if not right, explains the types. It nailed me, and I am a very difficult personality to understand by most for reasons explained in the book. Can often be found at libraries and medical libraries as it is used in classrooms. But only get the exact title, there is another Part II but it was a very watered down version of the first.
