All of the above, depending on the issue and the individual.

Some change their mind, and have rational reasons why. Some change their mind, and become zealous converts. Some change their mind and deny they ever though differently (like 3 year olds). Some refuse to accept the facts and hold onto their beliefs.

Some change their stance on one particular aspect of the issue, based on available data, but still hold the same general beliefs.

So, do we give people credit for being open minded and changing their opinion when they learn new facts? Or do we call them flip-flopper because they change their position when the factual situation changes?

Any of the above. We are all individuals and each person behaves differently. Thats why our nation is so great. We reconize that fact. and don't try to mold everyone to be identical like they did in communist countries like the old USSR. And still do
in Red China.

And then they'll blame someone else for their mistakes. "What? I voted to go to war in Iraq? Well, yes, but that was only because the president lied about there being WMDs. It's all his fault. He lied to us. Yeah, that's it...he lied."

I like to think that my choice will always be 'B'. It may not be that way in reality, but that's the way I'd choose to be.

for me it would be B---but many others may hold on to their wrong beliefs, because for them, an "illusion is better than the truth," if it means having to acknowledge that they were wrong.
