The trick of western governments is always to keep the population afraid. There are several ways for that:
- involve in a war with other countries
- claim that people living in other cultures/countries are such barbarians that the place the population lives in is the only place on earth they will survive
- divide et empere - set different groups wihing the population upo against each other
- terrorism is actually a new one. Not in history of course - they will even hire the terrorists to come shoot people - to make it seem oh so real.

Terrorism is the new Communism. Its a perfect thing for for countries like the United States to say "your either with us or with the..."
Terrorism isn't really a gigantic threat in the world, but the more you try and fight it with a big stick, the more innocent people you will hit, and the more likely you will gain more enemies.
Terrorism is just another thing to create a state of fear and control public opinion, Look at the polls of how people are afraid of terrorism, then see how many deaths true terrorism has cause in the past year (Iraq doesn't count because its a war).
The fact that people admire Bush at the moment proves that terrorism is a scapegoat, without some big scary enemy to fight against who would vote for such a dumb president.

Oh ya,
they blame all our issues on terrorism.
Cant fix healthcare: Blame terroirism
Cant build a tunnel in Boston that wont collapse: Blame terrorism
DO you really think Bush thinks he is better off dealing with terrorism?

It sort of seems that way. Everything that happens seemed to terrorist based and how do we know we don't don't we just label it that way because we don't know the root cause.

It ranks right up there, but I think killing in the name of God is even more popular (and worse) these days.
