Can a man legally marry his widow's sister in the state of California?

no, becaus if she is the widow, that means he is dead. Dead people can't marry anyone.

Why isn't this in the jokes and riddles section? If a female is a widow, that means she has lost her husband to death - so he isn't going to be marrying anyone. She could remarry, though; maybe even to her deceased husband's brother.
P.S. If this wasn't a joke - a male who has lost his wife (to death) is called a widower. He can remarry - and to my knowledge there is no law saying it can't be to the sister of his late-wife - though some may consider that tacky.

A man can't marry his widow's sister ANYWHERE...she's his widow, which means that HE is dead.
