Not really.
Personalities come and go in this sport (and others) and new ones crop up.
The same thing happened when Jean Alesi retired. We didn't want him to go because he was an entertaining driver but you get over it.
Nigel Mansell was good value too - he was always good for some drama or conflict on the racecourse.

Villeneuve has had his day in the sun. He was good enough to win an F1 championship. He will move on some other young new F1 hotshot will dye his hair bright yellow and make us laugh.

I dunno, I never used to like him much but changed my mind when he dropped to lower teams and dyed his hair pink! His personality came through there and he's an interesting character.
He always gives good interviews and it's a bonus that his English is good (for me... no offence against non-English speakers) cos it's not difficult to understand him and get him when he's just mucking around.
I was lucky enough to see him race the car in Kensington Gardens in London a few weeks ago and he gave a good interview afterwards. Kubica looks like a good driver, but Villeneuve had the personality!
That's two cool guys out - Montoya and Villeneuve. Wonder who will be next.

Villeneuve was a maverick, that was what made him so interesting. Definitely, he will be missed. But as new blood come in, it is for the best that he move on. Possibly as a Team Manager or some other position!

I will miss him. I used to hate him before for his outspoken ways, but ever since he made the switch to BAR, I've grown to feel sorry for him. Now he's driving for a mid field team, getting beaten by his team mate (and probably is no match for Kubica), fellow drivers don't really care about him and wouldn't follow suit after he walked out on GPDA (after the Rascasse Gate), and now, no chance for a farewell race. Maybe it's better that he left so as to be spared from further embarassment. I hear he might be going to NASCAR...I wish him luck.

I'd like to see him race in the IRL. He won the Indy 500 in 1995 and never got a chance to defend that title. He was always an entertaining driver.
