My 14 year old neice needs a job but most fast food places, or stores don't hire till 16. What jobs can she get in a small town that pays well (over $5.00 an hour) besides babysitting? She really needs the money. Thanks

Quite a few of the kids in my small town actuallly got their first job at the local bars. The bars here each have a special priced pizza night. The kids started into the work force at age 14 making pizzas.

I got my 19 year old started in his own window washing business when he was 14. The outsides not the insides and they're hand washed not pressure hosed so they don't leave streaks. If it is a big window, he will use a squeegee. No other special equipment.

He charges $25 for single story up to 15 windows. Usually takes less than an hour to 1-1/2. He generally doesn't do multistory for less than $75 for the time and extra work involved.

5 times out of 10 he will go back for the insides as well. Another $25. It pays his way through school and he works around his classes. He started with putting out flyers in our neighborhood and now has a regular customer base. He was too nervous in the beginning to knock on the door but with more confidence he now just knocks on the door, hands them a flyer and ask if they would like their windows washed.

We aren't in a cold belt so his business doesn't suffer in the winter. It is all year round. He'll do 2 or 3 houses a day doing the week and schedules 5 or 6 jobs on the weekend. Most of the inside work is on the weekends when the customers are home. He can do the outsides without them there. He tapes there bill on the door in an envelope and comes back to collect later.

I dont know where you live so I am going to use this for an example. Water Country USA and Busch Gardens (in virginia) allows students to work certain hours during the summer with a work permit from school (i think that is right). check with your community board and see if they can give you information about that being an option. (students usually can only work a few hours a day). Maybe dog watching instead of babysitting. How handy is your neice with a camera. If she is any good she could charge to take peoples pictures. She could do scrapbooking and charge people to do that for them (get paid to have fun). Not everyone has the time to make a scrapbook about their kids accomplishments. Anyway hope these ideas help.

ok. entrepeaunering, no.. your way too young with no experience to be doing that. what some of the other posters have said is dish washer, bag boy.. thats not a female job (im gonna assume you are, your avatar and baby sitting) and neither really is paper route. try a hostess. where i live, 16 year old girls fight to the death to be hostesses. maybe where you are from 14 may work. or try brusters. or, a clothing store. think about where you want to work, would you be happy there. would you care if your friends saw you, are their discounts. at 14, not many open doors. but go around and ask. and last but not least, your dad. filing papers, something do to i bet

Maybe, she could do some light hous cleaning in your town! Don't get involved with those scam survey-data entry jobs they are advertising. The got me sucked into that and you can not even reach these people by phone. They don't reply to your phone calls nor do they answer your e-mails. Nobody can get rich with those scam ads, unless you are willing to pay alot of money out of your own pocket and advertise for companies and you get paid if a customer accepts an over. Stay away!!!!

There are jobs available for children under 14 at local Boys and Girls Clubs. Also, try tutoring in a specific subject at school. Some kids receive up to $10.00 or more.

Few places will hire people without a high school diploma. See if your niece can get a paper route or something similar.

She could mow lawns. That would pay more than 5 bucks an hour in most cases. She could also do landscaping or paint.

work at Subway or McDonalds and spit in the food? Work at Pizza Hut and drink the beer in the walk-in cooler and get stoned after work and play video games all day and night. Wait, that was my childhood.
