My daughter is going to be a freshman in high school this year. We've bought all sorts of shoes, but no athletic shoes. She doesn't have a PE class and doesn't do sports, so they would be about fashion - what is the 'in' thing for this year??

In no way do I plan on buying shoes without her - I'm an old lady and she's a young chick (though - you know the 80's are comin' back :)

Thanks to all! After talking to my daughter, she seems to like the idea on Vans. (I had never heard of them.....) You all are awesome! YEAH! Shopping Trip!!!

You sound like a cool mom. Last year nike shox and pumas were in! But this year everyone is wearing casual vans(not like skater shoes they look kinda like keds) if i were you i would buy her those!

Try Nike's Air Force Ones or Nike Air Max's. I'm a senior in high school now. I don't play any sports or anything or have PE, but I just wear them with jeans or something.

My sister always likes different colorful Nikes... She always has at least one pair with pink in them? She is 16 and about to start 11th grade.

a girly nike shox is always great plus Vans if you want something not as athletic.

Since you are going to shop with her. Allow her to pick out the sneakers she likes best. Just be prepared to hold your tongue.

I have a teenager as well & let me tell you, it's best to let her pick out the ones that she likes best. There are more then just one in fashion my friend. If you want her to wear them, let her pick them out. ;o)

well the "in" thing is different for everybody.. as she will find out when school starts, everybody has different styles [im in high school]..... and all i can say is go with what she likes.... and i wish i had a mom like you ;)

I like nike, they comfortable and have many girly color selection.
