I think they can. To be honest, if a man and a woman are really best friends then there has likely been a tension building toward a relationship the whole time and it will eventually explode into a great love affair. It is very difficult to be best friends with the opposite sex without some form of attraction, either physical or emotional.

Sure, but once you move past the "just friends" part, it's hard to go back to being friends. If you truly feel that your best friend is the "one" for you, go for it. They say your life partner is your best friend, so my answer is yes, as long as you're sure where you want the relationship to go before you take the step!

Yes, and sometimes it can work out to be great! Sometimes, though, when good friends take it further - not only the relationship, but the friendship, too, are lost at some point.

It depends how it begins, i have a best friend(guy) and he asked me to go out w/him i loved him dearly but only as a friend i realized how my last friendship had gotten messed up after going out w/him and said "no"this best friend so our friendship would not end in bad ways. But my opinion is it is not always a good idea to have a relationship w/ure best friend.

WELL, IF YOU'RE ALREADY BEST FRIENDS, SOMETIMES IF YOU GET INTO A RELATIONSHIP AND THEN THINGS DON'T WORK OUT, IT'S HARD AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THAT FRIENDSHIP BACK TO HOW IT USED TO BE. SO, YOU REALLY JUST HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL. IT'S LIKE DO I LOVE THEM ENOUGH TO JEOPARDIZE OUR FRIENDSHIP IF IT DOESN'T WORK, OR...DO I LOVE THEM ENOUGH TO PURSUE IT AND END UP WITH THE LOVE OF MY LIFE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE...SO I MEAN IT'S A GAMBLE EITHER WAY, JUST MAKE SURE YOU PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT. GOOD LUCK!
