So the two puppeteers (Violet Philpott and John Thirtle) could squeeze together under the desk!

They were both voiced by the same person, the late great Peter Hawkins - hence they never said 'good-bye' together at the same time at the end of the program ;-)

The other hands were cut off when their hands got stuck together I think. Although I never noticed it before.
