It sounds like the coolant is just low enough that when you accelerate it sloshes backwards and triggers the light. When you let up off the pedal it flows back to its regular place and the light goes out.

as u accelerate it might be sloshing the coolant around in the tank so that the sensing device temporarily senses a lower level. make sure the coolant has enough based on Minimum and Maximum marks on the tank. The coolant should be at the Minimum mark when completely cold (not driven for 8 hours) and that gives expansion room when the engine gets hot so it can rise to Maximum. If u are checking the level hot, try checking it cold and it might be below minimum. Good luck.

Slightly low coolant level just enough to turn the light on. Also it really depends on what type of car you have but it sounds like you are getting an intermittant contact at the coolant level sensor in your surge tank bottle. Many vehicles are equppied with these level sensors and many vehicles have a high failure rate of these sensors. GM, Mercedes Benz, VW,BMW and Ford just to name a few are all equipped with coolant level sensors.

Sounds like you got some air in the system. Bleed the air out. Should be a plug of some type at the top of the radiator. If it happens after you do this, you have a small leak somewhere. Waterpump could be going out, the radiator may have a small leak, the cap may be worn out, or a hose could need replacing.

lights are so sensitive that when you accelerate the water pump surges the water and the light comes on to stop this add 1 qt of anti-freeze in your recovery tank above the full mark also when cold check level in the radiator itself should be flowing over almost
