Al-Ahly is the most successful club in EGPYT, winning the Egyptian league 34 times, an Egyptian record. they also won the CAF African Champions' League in 1982, 1987, 2001 & 2005.
in 2005, Al-Ahly qualified to the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship in Japan as the continential champions in Africa. they finished 6th as they lost to Al-Itthihad from SAUDI ARABIA in the quarter-finals & lost in the 5th place match against Sydney FC from AUSTRALIA.
