It's time to Kick the Oil habit!!!!!! For heaven's sake - the mid-USA has tons of corn, tons of corn = ethanol! Drilling the ANWR is an idiotic thing to do when we can make cars run on some other type of fuel. It's also time to stop funding terrorism by our oil purchases through the Saudi Royal family, anyway.

Yep, I heard BP is shutting down one of the nation's biggest oilfield after they found a leak - experts are saying this will drive up the price of oil per barrel and therefore the cost of gas will go up. Again. What I don't understand is why every little hiccup in their market or production automatically means higher gas prices for us. If they found a leak in THEIR pipeline, by all means fix it, but it should be at their cost not ours. They're making record profits as it is, they can certainly afford to do so.

By the way, drilling in ANWAR is not the solution. There's less than a year's supply of oil there and it will do nothing to drop the cost of oil for us.

Theres a difference between doing "Maintenance" as you put it and makeing "Repairs"

I'd rather they do it now before winter sets in
or they have a hugmongus leak and destroy half the state of Alaskas wildlife.

The price of oil wasn't going to go down anyway
so if they repair the pipe line now or three weeks
from now would have made no difference.

Well, corrosion happens & when you find it is a good time to fix it.
I personally think it is better then the alternative, watching it until it leaks & kills half of Alaska's wildlife...

I don't want to pay more money at the pump either, so I am doing what i can...like not drive a behemoth gas guzzler, like all the other momies, & I am trying to limit my driving, by combining trips, & other measures that actually work!

Higher oil prices hurt in the short term but sustained high prices are the best thing that can happen to the US economy. It will stimulate R+D in alternative fuels, substitute energies, and force people to cut down on environment destroying habits.

It's just going to hurt financially for a while but we will get through it and we will be stronger for it. I have faith in the american innovative spirit. Tighten the belt, grit your teeth, and do what needs to be done, this is going to suck.

PS To all those people complaining about 3 dollars per gallon, it is more than twice that where I am.

Yeah, all we need now is a hurricane and we can see domestic prices climb above 5.00/gal.

They always find ways to cut the supply at this time of year - I've noticed the trend. This one may be legitimate, but I doubt. Looks like another record quarter for the oil companies.

At least this will keep them from drilling in the ANWR.

And keep in mind, Peak Oil is just a liberal fantasy, like global warming.

WHAT??? I hadnt heard about this yet. Does this just seem like a coinsidence? Im so sick of the price going up and down and it seems like for no reason at all. Now of course with this happening I cant even imagine the magnitude of our new monthly bill! Im beginning to wonder if all these "reasons" gas is going up arent just some new idea some big wig at the gas companies thought up to break their already record-breaking profits! Im fed up.

It's a lie. The gov. just needs an excuse to gouge us even more at the pumps. There is no good reason now for the price we pay for gas. And they still want more. the oil co.'s are profiting $79,000 every 60 seconds.

Are you really suprised by this? The government is all about the bottom line, not preserving beautiful, natural lands. Just look at all the new 'housing developments' that are destroying thousands of acres of forest land just so people can have a .001 acre yard, and live 2 feet from their neighbor. Don't you just LOVE progress?

Well our state will be losing 4.6 million dollars in revenue per day... Not like this was planned trust me, I know people who work there...

ANWR is not an immediate option drilling means exploration, which means time. If we started drilling in ANWR today it would be 8 to 10 years before oil was making it to your gas station.

Quit voting idiots into the white house and maybe we can make it.
