You have 2 areas to change... The first is the Hardware password. In your CMOS settings there is a Hardware password for users and administrator. You can set one there for the administrator and you can stop anyone from getting to the operating system. IN Software there is the userid logon that can have a password set. Generally you have to logon as the administrator and then go into the control panel and set password for the logon userids.

BE CAREFUL if you ever forget these passwords then the system becomes a beast and won't play well anymore!

Set a password within the BIOS. Hit F1 (on such a lot computer systems) as it's opening and input setup. You can input a method password in there. Don't lose it. This password you have got to input earlier than attending to Windows opening.

*if you have windows
-you go to start and click on it
-then you click on your user picture at the top of the selections
-next there will be a box that says "pick a new picture for your account" and click the "cancel" button
-last it will say "What do you want to change about your account" which will have a second option saying "change password" and then click on it and now you should be able to do the rest.

Most likely... boot it up and sign in, then hit "control-alt-delete" and click on the "change password" icon. It will be in effect next time you log in.
