Why are women's swimsuits are tight while men's swimsuits are loose?

Because society wants women to be tight and trim but that same society allows men to be loose and carefree. Women have to watch their weight and be ladylike. While men can get a gut and still be considered sexy. Swimsuits are just another area where women get the short end of the stick. Or maybe because a woman has more body parts (breasts,butt, crotch) that need to be held securely and covered than a man.

Apparently you have never been to Waikiki Beach and seen the guys in the Speedos (waaay too tight) and the girls in the sarongs (very loose).
Possibly the reason is to keep a guys 'interests' from being obvious when at the beach with scantily clad women.
