I would think so. Sometimes when you knock on a door, they run to the door, barking it's head off and scratching the door until the owner opens it. And sometimes I've experienced when dogs run away from the door and whimper and whine. I've seen neighborhood dogs being walked, some go up and play with other dogs for a few minutes, and some try to strain there leash away. Some go up to humans to be petted, and some try to run in the other direction. But sometiems the dogs could just be embarrassed or fearful of something, so that might do something. But then, you were asking about animals, not just dogs, so it KIND OF answers your question.... I hope I helped.

No, I don't know what shy is. But sometime I feel scared and back away from something or someone. I think people then think I'm being shy. Remember, we are animals, and we don't have the emotions that humans do.

Shy, no... scared or fearful, yes. Assuming they have not been beaten... many animals get fearful or shy if too many "new" things are going on... especially puppies or the like. Some species just fear anything bigger than them and hide as a natural reaction to survival.

A shy animal is fearful.

Some do like if they're getting too much attention and i once heard of a dog that was shy to use the bathroom in front of strangers. LOL

Yes they can be shy. But I believe that they are not sure of a person or an object that is not familiar to them. My cat acts that way just from us changing the furniture a round.

Do animals really feel anything at all?

It's much dependant on that. Animals can be pretty much thought of as complex objects that just react to their environment, perhaps.

I've definitely seen reactions in my cats and in other animals that seem like shyness.

You can tell by her expression that our labby sometimes feels shy. When she goes out to poo, it seems like she looks around to make sure that no one is watching her who isn't family. Pets can experience emotions and feelings the same as people.
