I want to get an mp3 or ipod and wondered which one is user friendly for first-time users. I would also like to know which one(s) do you think are a waste of money?

your best bet is to go with an Ipod- its only the best because it's so "user-friendly"...Sony MP3s are very decent but, you have to install software onto your computer and manually update your songs, info, and playlist, which can be a pain if you have hundreds or thousands of songs and CDs and can take up to two days to fully integrate all music files, Itunes does it automatically and it only takes 1-3 hours plus you also have the option of DVD's, TV shows and other downloadable Videos (mpegs) and Pictures to add to your IPOD, I know the amount of time/money may suck but once it's done it's done....

hope that helps

Don't get an Ipod, you're paying for the brand, and other MP3 players are just as good (and don't give you the "please mug me!" white headphones either)

I have a rio carbon, the only problem I've ever had with it is that it's crashed twice, but then I just have to wait until the battery runs out and it restarts itself. My one also doesn't have a shuffle mode, but I think some of the newer ones do. If you DO get that I suggest you add songs via media player, cause the software they give you is pretty useless.

I would suggest a Creative MUVO mp3 player and flash stick (capacity of 1gb). it is a lot better than any iPod I have ever seen. as for the price, i do not remember how much it costed me. I guarantee first-time user-friendly (it can take a beating, trust me).

Get an iPod. They are the best and have the most accessories that you might need. They start at $69 and go up from there. The software that you use with them, iTunes, is also the best song managment software out there - you will really like it.

If you are only going to listen to music (without the video feature) you can get an ipod shuffle for about $70.
