Oh that's a tough one!
The one's that come to mind right now are Anne from "Anne of Green Gables", and Belle from "Beauty and the Beast".
I would pick both of those characters because of the love story within them and that it ends up well.

Anita Blake, any of the books in which she appeared.
Fans of LKH say that her books have gone downhill. I can see their point - they started out having plots, but that pretty much went by the wayside in favor of sex on nearly every page. However, it's such GOOD sex that I don't mind.
What bothers me is that Anita is so repressed. Always whining about her morals instead of embracing the plethora of hot men panting to be with her.
I mean, c'mon! You're a fictional character, have some FUN!
This is why I choose her - if I were to take over, all of THAT would go right out the window. No more whining, no more moral dilemmas. I'd probably bring the character off the pages and straight into a porno!

I'd like to be Joshua Calvert from the Night's Dawn Trilogy by Peter F Hamilton.
You could say I envy his... lifestyle. Also, he gets a chance to wield the power of a god, even if for just a moment, and that's something I'd like a go at. He lives in a time and world where medical and technological marvels have made almsot anything possible, and he's the type of person who makes the universe around him bend to his will and work with him.

Hermina from Hesse's 'SteppenWolf'. That woman amazes. She is so mysterious, a tragic character, and i would give everything to feel the way she feels at least for 5 minutes..
Another woman that i'd love to be is Nastasja from Dostoevskie's 'The idiot' another tragic character, not mysterious but very closed, and i just want to know what the hell was happening in her head..
Katerina from dostoevskie's 'The Karamazov Brothers' is not tragic, she is neither mysterious not closed too. But very intruiging.
I love Dostoevskie's women, because he elieves that the happiness can be achieved only by suffering, and i agree with him at this point. His womn suffer, and i like the way they suffer, i'd love to experience things that they did..

Probably Eowyn of The Lord of the Rings. In the book, Tolkien doesn't talk about her as much as say...Aragorn or Frodo and it would be nice to know how she felt after Faramir told her about how he loved her and why she decided to no longer delight in war but instead in gardens.
Besides, she is my favorite character!

Nora Robert's Heaven & Earth, the second book of the trilogy on Sister's Island.
It would be Ripley Todd, as I am pretty much like her in nature.
And I like the Rip-Em-Up reference in the book (:
