I have a 2 year old boy who loves steam trains so I would make a picnic up consisting of his favorite things and include a healthy snak.
I would then drive to the nearest steamtrain place and take im on all the trains. Then sit in a shaded picnic spot (Shaded so he didnt burn). The we would walk around looking at all the different trains before setting off to the seaside so that he could play in the sand and the sea.
The go through the penny arcades before finally coming home to watch fireman sam and the backyardigans.

recently, work :(
Anyway, it depends. If I am in the mountains, I would hike; if I am at the seaside, I would lounge on the beach; if I am at my grandparents' farm... they would probably find work for me to help with, rain or shine :)
