and it was negative.... I DO NOT want to be pregnant and I am on B/C. Was just confused on how a pregnancy test can be + and blood test be -

Just a wonder-If I tested + on Answer Early and it were a true +, I would have to have HCG in my blood so therefore the blood test would have been positive right. Otherwise, how could the HPT pick it up and NOT a blood test. Weird.

Thanks for all your help.

The stick tests are not 100% accurate, and there are some medications that can affect the results. On top of that, some of them show a false positive just because of the concentration of the urine used, or the type of test it is (more likely in the early detection tests). If you are negative in a blood test, than you are not pregnant.

Something else that can happen is that an egg may have been fertilized, and aborted on its own. That happens a lot, and much of the time before a woman would ever even assume she might be pregnant.

Don't mean to scare you, but 2 of mine were conceived while I was on B/C. If you definately don't want to get pregnant in this stage of your life, double up on your birthcontrol by using a condom. In reality, the only way to keep from getting pg is to keep your legs closed and your pants on.

It could have been any reason for a false positive...human error, medications, tumors.
