There are a lot of different numbers that are used. Some say to add 5 for an odd number, like your 29" and 4 for an even number like 28". I'm 33" rib cage and I'm only supposed to add 3". It has to do with cup size as well, which is calculated by messuring your chest from your sturnum to your spin, going over the largest point of your breast. You double that number (mine is 19, so it's 38") and subtract it from your bra size. (38"-36"=2") 1"=A cup, 2"=B cup and so on.

The other part of adding the 5-3 inches is also to make sure that the bra is large enough for your ribs to expand so you can breath, which is always helpful, and for small amounts of weight gain, like water retention, which increases breast size and sometimes chest size. Your bra should not be so tight that you have a lot of pooch around the strap. Even if you are fat, it should not cut into your flesh that much. It can cause problems with the glands in the arm pits, which can (and I mean CAN, not WILL) cause breast cancer, gland infections, and will cause really nasty marks on your skin, which can decrease skin elastisity.

whoo, that was a long answear. Hope that makes sence! ^_^
