I'm going to Washington DC in a week, and was wondering what I should pack. It's going to be VERY hot. Any ideas? Should I pack ANY jeans? Thanks!!

Summer in Washington DC is hot. Shorts and casual wear is great for sight seeing. There is a great night tour of Washington that takes you to the major monuments in the evening when they are all illuminated. If you're cold natured and plan to go on this tour, you might take one pair of pants. And I do recommend this tour.

Also, there are two types of restuarants in and around the district...tourist type and dress up type. If you plan on going to an upscale restaurant you will need "appropriate attire."

Well, it's hot, so, summer clothes. It might rain too, so pack for that as well. And be careful, D.C. has like the most violent crime out of any city in America. And stay away from the hobos, even if they are nice, they'll swindle you. Take the Metro system anywhere you have to go, it's cheap and a LOT better than the NYC subway system.

%. layers. you're transforming into very heat days in the 60s or maybe to 70, and you're transforming into lows in the 30s this time of year. So layers are a brilliant thought. verify you convey an umbrella, rain kit, as spring is a wetter season than maximum, even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it is not a moist place. you will not want shorts, yet a pair of jackets that could layer are suitable.

If you're going as a tourist, the most important thing is to wear the absolutely most comfortable shoes you own for walking. And wear socks.

Visiting Wasington involves A LOT of walking - you will wear youself out.

Clothing, too, should reflect comfort before style. You'll want a soft, comfortable, but large bag to carry for souvenirs, literature, your camera, etc.

Yes, pack you jeans and whatever else you feel comfortable in. I was there in March. It is simply a melting pot of tourists from America and all over the world. You will fit in no matter what you wear.

You may want to bring one pair, just in case. But you likely won't need them.
