Not wrong at all.
However, since I used to work in a bank, I'd like to add that you should be putting a little something aside for the future (if you're not doing so already). You won't always be able to work, you know.
Good luck to you.

Not if you can live happily on that amount and don't feel you are being exploited. And, not if you love your job.
In fact, I think that you are very fortunate. With three graduate degrees including a Ph.D. I am not "worth" $40,000. I would love to earn $40,000.
I also think you are very fortunate to be satisfied and happy in life and to realize how blessed you are.

No, it's not wrong. There are some people who are all right with 40k while other people might only be ok with 100k and up. It just depends on your lifestyle.

I don't think there's anything wrong with not being driven by money. As long as my bills & responsibilities are taken care of than I don't worry about money. I'm not poor, but I am broke. And all my bills are paid :)

Not really. You're just more of a complacent person than someone who would ask for more. Employers love people like you.

If you are happy that is all that is important. Many employers offer perks and atmosphere that money can't buy.

No. As long as you have what you need and want, then $40,000 is enough money.
