A DVR records the program to an internal memory device. There is no way that I know of to burn those programs, once recorded to a DVD.

I think you may have the wrong sort of discs. You need to check whether your recorder writes onto DVD+R or DVD-RW (the + or - makes quite a difference!). These are different formats of disc and if you have the wrong one you won't be able to write to it. Check in your manual which tye of disc it requires and double check you have the correct ones.

My dvd recorder wouldn't recognize disks because the speed of the disk (18x) was faster than the write speed of the recorder (4x)
Check your manual, make sure which format your unit uses (+R or -R) and try the slowest speed you can locate if the manual doesn't specify a disk (+R 2X for example)

Some DVD recorders can only use certain types of disks. Or they have a setting to set the type of disk you want to use.

If your recorder IS compatible with those disks, you'll probably need to format them before use. There will be a menu option to do this on your recorder.........
