Getting around Salem itself is no problem. Also, if you want to go into Boston or Cambridge, the commuter rail is within walking distance of the middle of Salem. It's about a half an hour into Boston. Check out www.mbta.com.

It's not difficult at all-Salem's tourist spot are all in the same area for the most part. There are trolleys to take you around there, and if you needed to go to Boston, you can take the commuter rail...Salem is definitely the kind of city you can walk from place to place.

the answer rosa gives is very good just want to add the mbta rail service will also brong you right into downtown gloucester or rockport in about 1/2 hr to 40 min with many many attractions within walking distance of the stations or a very short and cheap bus ride maybe a 2 minutes for downtown gloucester. you the rail service can also bring you up to mewburyport again maybe 1/2 to 40 min ride and maybe 1/2 mile from the downtown scenic area

Yeah, not too bad to get around Salem unless you are visiting in October during Haunted Happenings. If that's the case you need to be prepared to hoof it. But much is close together and makes for a pleasant walking tour.

No, very easy - trolleys take the tourists around, lots of things are in walking distance of one another. Of course, this assumes you are staying IN Salem and not at your friends' house in Peabody or Beverly or Manchester.

It's fairly easy, however if you want to go into the city, like Downtown Boston it will be long traveling time.

It's pretty easy. If you can, get up to Gloucester and Bearskin Neck in Rockport too!
