A lot of the things I want to do are rather strange and would require me to be wealthy to complete.

I was talking to a friend about what I want to do as a job and I mentioned teaching. She said "Oh! I want to teach too! Lets do it together!" She was all excited and ready to do it, when I realized it would mean abandoning everything else I have which feels reckless to me.

What are your dreams? Is there a way to realistically approach them, or is that why they are called "dreams?" Have you ever just given up on a dream?

I truly believe that if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything in the world.

It's as simple as that "If you work hard enough". In your case that would mean going back to school and keeping your current job or getting another one closer to the school. You're going to have to work your *** off day and night.

Dedication is the key. If you are dedicated to your dream or goal, it will happen. But you can't be dedicated for only a few days, you have to be dedicated for LIFE. But if it's REALLY your "dream" then it's something you really love doing so that is where your motivation comes from. If you have no motivation, it's near impossible to reach that goal.

Bottom line, yes it's realistic and you can do it. But it's going to be a LOT of hard work and you have to keep your eyes on that goal and push yourself through it.

I wish you the best of luck!! We only live once and we should make the best of it. And remember, money isn't everything!!

Hi u know what?from your query it seems u are really worried about your future.I would like to say 2 things that may help u.Here they go
First of all,u know what,i went through a phrase which meant if u select a job in which u have interest or u are passionate about or may be its like your hobby, then u will never have to work actually.U will always enjoy doing it,because u love it.U will never get bored out of it.So surely u will excel in it.
So just go for it.Take the elder`s advice and help.
Secondly let me tell u don`t dream too much about that 'Jackpot'.U never know the opportunity and time will go way without your knowledge and u will have to repent later on.So just focus in your present.
Believe me,whatever i told u i learned from my experiences.I am a student.I don`t want to tell my exact experiences though.

I havent given up on my dream. And in return i havent earned a dollar in my life.

So my word of advice is keep your current employment, and dedicate focus to your dreams technical side. During that you may see its worth it, or not. And at least you will gain preparation for it, be it studying, or mental preperation or knowlege.

I wouldnt do anything that would leave you stranded if things changed faster than it took for you to accuire that dream. If you been thinking about it for years, then it should work for atleast a few years. A spur of the moment idea isnt somethign to throw everythign into in other words.

You don't have to abandon everything to go to college at night for a teaching degree.
Approach any dream with small steps.
Never give up.

I guess approaching them systematically would work best for you. Some people need to burst forth, like your friend. If there was one surefire way, we'd all do it.

Good luck from me, an advisor at www.truth-hurts.com.
