According to the US Department of Defense terrorism is "the unlawful use of -- or threatened use of -- force or violence against individuals or property to coerce or intimidate governments or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives.". Hazibollah are terrorists, but so is Israel according to the definition. Why America defends Isreal? Why people never say that Isreael is a terrorist?

A really interesting question, thanks for posting. I think most of you would do well to re-read the question, that is the US DoD definition of a terrorist - you don't have to be a suicide bomber. I'm agreeing with hot_anthony_82 on this one. Lebanon did capture those soldiers, which was wrong and aggressive, but a quick glace at Israeli history will show you how they kidnapped whole countries in the past. I would say that if breaking UN Resolutions for ceasefire (as well as all the others they broke, such as illegal Gaza strip settlement) is anything to go by, then yes, the force and violence they consistently use is ILLEGAL.

It is not a terrorist act to defend one's own country against the tyranny of foriegn governments who make a terrorist faction a safe haven within their borders so that they can carry out attacks at will. Enough is enough and Israel is simply doing what any other country would do with the same means...defending itself and ridding a country of an unwanted entity..that is why other world governments aren't stepping in to stop Israel. They are somewhat justified in thier actions..though a peaceful resolution should be more swift in coming. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

I agree with you and i think Israel fits the definition much better then Hezbollah does!!!
1) Hezbollah toke two hostages and didn't kill them YET. Israel open the other hand was the first to kill.

2) Israel killed more than 900 civilians compared to 39 by Hezbollah.

3) Hezbollah is targeting the Israel army, killing 60 while Israel is fighting a cowardly war killing civilians half of which are children.

God Bless

isreal has been pretty quiet. they have been attacked over and over, and because the us has asked them not to, they have not struck back when provoked many times over the years. arrowhead, you don't even know what you atre talking about. the israeli soldiers were not in palestinian terrority, the palistinian terrorists dug a tunnel into isreali territority to kidnap these israeli soldiers. read the paper. they also kidnapped an israeli citizen and killed him. hezbollah struck first, even though there was a peace treaty in effect. we don't say israel is a terrorist because they tried to live within the peace treaty. all they ask is to live peaceably in their little 8000 square miles of home. the palestines have 2,000,000 miles of a place to call home. why try to take away this little piece of land from people who have been displaced from the land of their fathers because of slavery? they should be welcomed back home, as brethren of the holy land, instead of beleaguered by greedy, jealous people who want it all. lebanon is not innocent. the missles are fired into israel from lebanon. isreal has a right to be there...that's where their ancient heritage lies. it would have been nice if the people there said welcome back, instead of you got taken away into slavery, we got the land you lost, and we are not giving it up. the sad part is that they are all probably related through an ancestor.

When you are riding on the bike and someone spits out of the bus ahead of you and it falls over your face, you:
1. Curse the guy and go on
2. Catch up the bus and shout/abuse the guy and go on.
3. Catch up and stop the bus, get in and bang the fellow so he knows better next time.
4. Do the above and stab a knife in his legs.
Israel has taken the fourth option and India always takes the first option. There is no terrorism - it is just the way one reacts to provocation.

If you do believe that Israel to be terrorist then you must accept that the US under this administration are also terrorist. Since it is the US that supports and arms Israel then you must agree George bus is a terrorist or delete this question.

You are quite right.
Israel was founded in 1948 by illegal jewish immigrants from Europe who set up terrorist gangs to drive out the British.
This is an historical fact and can be discovered by anyone who cares to educate themselves. But most people just accept the propaganda of the jews and the americans

Because there are powerful Jewish lobbies within the American government.

Phantom, you are an idiot. You say Israel only attacks when provoked - BUT THE ATTACK ON LEBANON WAS NOT PROVOKED!!!

BJ, gabe, brin, jana and Prem, you are all idiots or terrorists yourselves. Hezbollah was completely within their right to capture the Israeli soldiers who trespassed into Lebanon. ISRAEL STRUCK FIRST. They were hitting southern Lebanon with artillery before Hezbollah started firing Katyusha rockets back.

Because Israel has always been provoked into an attack. And Israel never attacks civilian targets on purpose, they only take out military targets. Although some citizen swill attack other citizens the government will not.
