I have would respect anyone who has made it through medical school and residency regardless of their specialization. If a person wants to specialize it should be in something that is of interest to them and that they can be happy working with on a daily basis. I believe that any specialization chosen will have its own challenges. Specialists are important and despite what some may say about podiatrists, I know that we need them.

I think it's an excellent choice with lots of opportunities. With our aging population, increasing rates of diabetes and foot related problems, I think you will have plenty of business. Good Luck.
