Sack?

They go by the measurement of the baby not the amniotic sack. My sack had me due at the end of May but the baby's measurement was closer to the end of June beginning of July. So, the doctors gave me an approximate of between June 28th and July 5th. My son came out on July 3rd, so the measurement of the baby is the more accurate. Your amniotic sack can become larger for a number of reasons, so they must go by the baby.

They will give you an ultrasound and date you based on the measurement of the baby and check the date they give you with all the ultrasounds you have from that point on. If your sac is measuring so much bigger than the baby they may have you get testing for too much amniotic fluid in the sac causing it to be larger than it is actually suppose to.

Good luck & congratulations.

measurement of the length of the baby in early gestations is one of the most accurate method of estimating the conception date and delivery date. On the other hand, the measurement of the gestational sac is not. You may have misunderstood your doctor because we do not base the date estimation on the gestational sac.

I think they do a follow up ultra sound and make sure of the measurements and then they will change the due date.
