The better question would be: Why didn't or couldn't the Cuban people do it themselves?

When I was ten years old, during the crises, we signed a non aggression pack with Castro. So far we have followed it.

While I'm not a fan of Castro, he has done some pretty good things in his small island nation. No one is all bad!

I am from the UK so apologies for not knowing a great deal about the US relationship with Cuba.

If the US could have taken out Castro, why did they not take out Batista? Who, lets face it, was a hell of a lot worse than Castro?

Castro is not important and Cuba is not worth putting that much effort into - they have nothing to offer - OIL

Well first off Cuba don't have the only thing Bush is looking for OIL!! So why would Bust be intersted in them. Now if they had lots of Oil we would have already been down there!! If it was in the U.S. interests it would but they are probably mindful of the many times they have tried and failed. The last thing Bush wants is more negative news as his ratings are already at rock bottom.
